Maybe you want to go to the gym more? Perhaps you want to make more time to visit your family? While we will leave you to decide on your personal resolutions yourself, you need to make sure you don’t overlook your business resolutions. Keeping that in mind, read on to discover some great ideas for small business resolutions that will ensure your company grows during this year.

Take control of your finances – Make this the year that you finally get on top of all of your business’s financial commitments. If you find that you cannot keep up with your bookkeeping requirements or you are constantly suffering at the hands of a lack of cash flow, then take the weight off your shoulders and invest in the services of a chartered accountant. You can have the peace of mind that this side of your business is taken care of while you focus on doing what you do best.

Work on your website – The Internet is a medium that is ever changing, and thus it is likely that your website could do with a bit of an update. If it has been neglected, you will definitely need to check that everything is in working order, and it is important to ensure that your digital marketing and advertising efforts are effective too.

Refresh your office – Has your office space become a bit cluttered and frantic? If so, your New Year’s resolution should be to organise your work space. Shred anything that you do not need, store in your archives those documents you need to keep but rarely use and ensure you have good storage for everything else to make sure you stay organised. If your business is starting to outgrow the space available remember you could always rent a cheap business storage unit as a stop-gap solution until you can find new premises. This will make it a lot easier for you when returning to business for the New Year, and you will benefit from the uncluttered environment created.

Learn something new – Is business a little bit slow for you at this time of year? Maybe you will find yourself with a little bit of spare time on your hands? If so, then why not take the time to learn a new skill or element of the industry that will benefit your business? Stock up on magazines and books and keep abreast of industry blogs to ensure you keep up to date with everything that is going on in the industry.

Assess your business plan – Last but not least, another idea for your small business New Year resolutions could be to take a look at your business plan. This is a critical element of any small company. If it has been stashed away and you have not taken a look it for a number of years now, make this the year to take it out, read it, and make sure you update it.
